Handling Suspected Cases of Guest, Ghost, or Gift Authorship

Evaluate the Ownership Statement submitted by the authors and send a copy to all concerned authors for verification, requesting them to specify each author's contribution.
Reconcile all received statements, identifying any potential discrepancies or issues.
If there is a missing author with a significant contribution (GHOST AUTHOR)
If there is a missing author with a significant contribution (GHOST AUTHOR)
Insist on including the missing author.
Obtain written approval from all remaining authors according to the journal's policy.
Treat the matter seriously and involve the institution's Head of Department (HOD).

Another Approch can be(different process)

If there is an author listed without any contribution (GUEST/GIFT AUTHOR)
Insist on removing the GUEST/GIFT AUTHOR's name and consider including their name in the 'Acknowledgment' section if necessary.
Refer to the journal's publication policy if required.
Treat the matter seriously and involve the institution's HOD.
If the list is accurate and without issues, proceed with the normal review and publication process.
If the list is misleading or raises suspicions:
Investigate potential issues or concerns (e.g., using Google to identify objections or ownership claims related to the research).
Take appropriate actions based on the findings.
