When an author requests the removal of another author's name before publishing an article, the editor must first determine the underlying reason. If the editor is convinced, they should obtain written approval from all concerned authors. There are two possible outcomes
All concerned authors agree to remove the existing author and provide written approval
The editor proceeds to update the journal's author list accordingly and, if desired by all authors, includes the removed author's name in the acknowledgments.
The editor updates the author list with complete details and finalizes publication formalities.
Some or all concerned authors disagree with the exclusion of the existing author:
In this case, the editor must withhold publication until the dispute among the authors is resolved.
